Management and Evaluation of Business Rules
In simplest terms, our tools are used for
the management and evaluation (decision-making process)
of business rules – in real-time; from an enterprise
level. Within an SOA, the software tool suites provide a
decisioning "service" or policy decision point
(PDP) that is consumable by other enterprise services. A
Policy Administration Point (PAP) provides the management
interface for the business rules.
Management - JR2:
A browser-based administrative GUI for business rules that
can be distributed securely for the enterprise. JR2
(Jericho Rules & Resources) serves as the PAP.
- Business rules are created, modified and
implemented by your organizations' subject-matter-experts,
even if they are non-technical. For example; with the
EnterSpace Personalization Suite, the tool's ease of use
allows marketing or e-commerce groups to create enterprise
personalization rules for 1-to-1 content management.
- The rules use Boolean logic to define
conditions for decisions to be made. In addition, templates
and wizards can overlay JR2 to simplify the
process to an even greater degree, such that business
rule management is a matter of using check boxes and drop
down menus that "hide" the Boolean logic from
the user. This feature enables you to externalize rule-making
capability to customers, employees, partners and vendors
in appropriate situations. Robust configuration management,
work-flow and staging of rules will be enabled through
JR2.
Evaluation - PDP: A robust,
scaleable, fault-tolerant decision in real-time…right
now
- Once business rules have been captured
through JR2, our tools use a high speed, scaleable,
highly available rules engine to make decisions. This
evaluation or "decisioning" process provides
for various deployment models to strike the appropriate
balance between "real-time" and "performance/
speed" for each use case. When a true real-time decision
in needed, our tools can make a new decision for every
request. When performance is of the utmost (for example
when a decision needs to be rendered within 10 milliseconds);
our tool suites support numerous caching options and agents.
- Our enterprise software tools scale horizontally
to make hundreds of thousands of decisions per second
for large user communities.
- The decisioning process is event driven.
Given a specific business event, the appropriate business
rule set is loaded, the decisioning context is "enriched"
with current values from your enterprise data sources,
and a decision is made - quickly and consistently. Each
decision, including all of its parameters and values is
logged into an audit log. In addition, a programmable
event interface allows you to create specific responses
to decisions. For example, within the EnterSpace Security
Suite; an inappropriate request for an important door
might lock the door, page a security guard and call 911.
EnterSpace Software Tool Suites
EnterSpace Technology is incorporated into
the EnterSpace Decisioning Service (EsDS). The EsDS is further
composed of specific tool suites that concentrate on automating
specific categories of real-time Decisions in response to
recognized business Events.

a user logging into a browser, we deliver 1-to-1 advertising
and personalization Decisions that enable the
best content to be displayed to the user.

the front door), we deliver authentication support and
fine-grained access/ authorization Decisions
that enable you to secure enterprise resources (data and
physical) on a need-to-know, when the definition of need-to-know
is constantly changing and user communities or number
of items to be secured are large.

In response to a Business Process Event (e.g.
evaluating a given project against its various payment
phase gates or trying to manufacture a product just-in-time
in the most cost effective manner), we render Decisions
based on the value of current enterprise data.

can automate any decision where enterprise business rules
can be defined and data exists within your enterprise (or
that you subscribe to) by which to evaluate your business
rules. Our tools function as addressable enterprise service
within an SOA.
