Jericho Systems Corporation
Background Jericho Systems'
History and Reason for Being
Corporate Vision - Jericho
Systems exists to make a positive impact on the world through
Software and Services.
Corporate History - We are
a privately funded, women-owned corporation based in Dallas,
Texas. The company was incorporated on August 15, 2002.
Corporate Mission: Offering Solutions
that Enable the Real-Time Enterprise within an SOA
- The mission of Jericho Systems is to create software tools
and offer services that enable the Real-Time Enterprise (RTE);
especially as the real-time enterprise incorporates a Web
Services and Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) paradigm.
Industry analysts, like Gartner, predict that
increased real-time functionality will be the basis for the
next generation of enterprise software. And, as open standards
have become more mature; Web Services operating within an
SOA are beginning to live up to their hype.
Jericho Systems has positioned itself squarely
into the midst of this trend towards Web Services, SOAs and
the RTE with our software tool suites. Our three suites are
service providers of security, advertising & personalization,
and business process automation “decisions”; i.e.
at the core of our suites is a policy decision point (PDP).
The PDP is addressable through a number standards based interfaces.
In addition, we have created an advanced browser-based interface,
called JR2 (Jericho Rules & Resources). JR2
functions as the Policy Administration Point (PAP); in other
words, JR2 is the rules management environment
for business rules, business rule sets and resources.
Jericho Systems deeply believes in the potential
of Web Services and SOAs as a way for the software companies
of the future to focus on being the best at a given 'service.'
Best-of-breed services can then consume other appropriate
network services through standards based interfaces. We believe
that the decreasing use of proprietary interfaces will drive
innovation within the software industry and increase value
to clients.
In the view of Jericho Systems, and contrary
to what other large software vendors may say; "best-of-breed"
is not dead. Clients would choose best-of-breed solutions,
if they knew the products were standards based and quickly
integrated.
Enterprise View of Business Rules Empowered
with Real-Time Functionality - At the end of the
day, no matter which of our three suites interest you; Jericho
Systems enables the distributed management and evaluation
of business rules. We are firmly convinced that business rules
should be given just-in-time functionality. In today's Internet
age; business rules, including security/ authorization rules,
personalization rules, and business process automation business
rules; should be easily defined… simply managed…and
rapidly deployed as an enterprise service within an SOA.
- Business Rules in the Hands of Business
People — Non-technical managers and key personnel
should be able to manage business rules; business decision-makers
should be able to control business rules without the need
of software engineers and programmer support.
- Business Rules Visible from an Enterprise
Level — Business rules should be brought
to the enterprise level. Top executives deserve to have
digital dashboard view of their business rules; for they
represent the very competitive advantage for any firm.
- Business Rules Used to Make Real-Time
Decisions — Business rules should be coupled
with a computerized process that automates business decision-making.
Too much money is spent today on human beings making the
same decisions over and over. Not only is this expensive,
but creativity is stifled in that mundane, repetitive decisions
sap time from initiatives that could produce greater ROI.
This automated decisioning process should easily integrate
into a company's current technology infrastructure.
Current State of Business Rules
- Currently, business rules do not speak a common language.
When business rules are implemented electronically they are
generally implemented at the individual application level.
This results in "information silos 'and' stovepipes"
of in-operability scattered disparately across the enterprise.
That is to say, today business rules
are generally:
- Inconsistently Deployed
- Among applications, departments and other enterprises.
For example, in most telecom firms, the suggestive up-sell
rules to present targeted messages are specific to departments.
The rules to deliver up-sell messages on the web site exist
in separate application spaces that are maintained by different
groups of programmers than the same logic to display targeted
messages in a call center environment. This results in inconsistent
up-sell messages presented to the customer and higher human
resource costs. The customer gets a different experience
depending upon the channel they enter through.
- Inflexible - Because most
business rules are hard-coded within applications, they
are difficult and costly to create, maintain and update.
- Generally Static - It is
complicated to make decisions based on the current transaction,
current session or real-time data. For example, can you
make automated content decisions based upon current weather,
i.e. is it raining; or the current Homeland Security Threat
Status; or current session clickstream?
Where are Your Business Rules Today?...Creates
Walls Within Your Enterprise - Ask a business where
their business rules are and they'll say 'everywhere.' Business
rules exist within applications here and there, locked in
key employees heads, written down…simply everywhere.
Yet those business rules do not “talk” to one
another. The inability of business rules to communicate with
one another and function at the enterprise level creates walls
between your enterprise and your customers, employees, partners
and vendors.
These walls represent increased costs
of doing business and decreased money-making opportunities.
Jericho Systems Based on the Bible:
Tearing Down the Walls
The ancient city of Jericho is widely recognized
as the oldest walled city in the world. In the Bible (Joshua
6), God miraculously tore down the walls of Jericho
with the blast of a shofar (rams horn).
We have named our company Jericho Systems because
it is time to tear down the walls created by business rules
that do not communicate with one another. In place of walls
we create EnterSpaces--1-to-1 personalized and secure vistas
of interaction within your enterprise. EnterSpace Technology
decreases costs of doing business, increases revenue generation
and enhances your enterprise’s exposure to new opportunities.
With the advent of open standards for interfaces, the time
is now ripe for a business rules management and decisioning
service that functions within an SOA.
